Ooh! It's nearly Christmas...!!

Its almost Christmas, I have done all the shopping for presents . Infact, as a really organised person, I can boast and say I have all the presents wrapped and ready. One thing is missing in our house at the moment though is somewhere to put them . Traditionally presents go under the Christmas tree.

Yes, you guessed , at the moment we have no tree.  We have a fake tree, which is many years old, but it still looks good. At the moment it is in the roof awaiting to be brought down and put in place.

There are four reasons why I do not want the tree to go up too early. Let me introduce you to the four reasons.

Here they are!!

My fantastic, wonderful, lovable Maine Coon cats !!!

They are ( top row ) Tequila and Brandy , and (bottom row) Cocoa and Pepper.

Tequila and Brandy are 3 years old . Cocoa and Pepper, were not even born last Christmas. They have just become 11 months old, yesterday. They will all chase and play with anything. Maine Coons never seem to grow out of their kitten playfulness, even though they are twice the size of the average cat.

So, I have visions of the Christmas tree being climbed, or even knocked down. I know for certain that decorations will be played with and some probably will be pulled off !!!

We were abroad last Christmas so the older two cats, did not have a tree to destroy last year!!
This year they  will have one, and it's a whole new experience for the two younger ones.

Anyway, on the crafting front I have made two decorative boxes. to put some Christmas goodies in.  These will be filled with chocolates. I need to line them first, with tissue paper.

These started life as two plain wooden boxes.  I painted them with red acrylic paint, which I darkened with brown towards the bottom, and lightened with cream towards the top. I then varnished the whole box to seal in the paint, and give it a lovely shine. I then added some paper lace, gold thread and brown/gold trim. I finished them off with some red and pink shiny jewels, to give  a festive look.

I also painted up a ceramic pot with Christmas colours. I will put a plant into this one.

This was originally white. I used metallic red paint, and when it was dry added a layer of gold glitter paint, and then varnish.

I painted on some gold detailing and stuck on some shiny jewels. It is fairly simple, but will make a nice centrepiece on the table over Christmas.
