Painting. The structure of trees. Part 2.

I posted a few pictures (a few days ago) about paintings, where the structure of a tree is a dominant feature.

I forgot to add this one, which mixes pattern with branch shapes.

This one has the highly unoriginal title of "Patchwork tree" and is available for sale on Mini Gallery

I covered the entire canvas with crinkled tissue paper. This was attached with PVA glue mixed with water, about a 50-50 ratio. This gives a lovely crinkled surface. It takes quite a few hours to dry though.
I painted the background first, as a simple patchwork design. My intention was to use colours that gave a lovely warm feeling. The tree was added afterwards, and I tried to follow the crinkles in the paper with branches wherever possible. You can see this effect with the light on the side.

This is one of those paintings I would probably keep for myself, if I had any spare wall space. As you can imagine, like most artists, my walls are  just full of my work. Plus the odd Monet and Van Gogh  ( prints of course...! ) The real things would be worth far far more than my house is!!

Comments appreciated. I love to hear from you!
