My latest cushions. These are a good mixture of contemporary colours, with traditional decorative features. Here is a pile of fabrics I selected for these cushions.
I cut out some squares for the front panels. At this point Tequila decided to attack some of my ribbon trim that was on the desk!
I attached a panel of sequined silver organza over the top.
I then sewed on some strips of black and grey chiffon. I left the surface raised and slightly gathered, so you can appreciate the qualities of the fabric. I also added the ribbon trim ( now Tequila had finished playing with it! ) and some turquoise velvet trim.
After this I stitched on some black and silver threads. I did these in wavy lines to break up the stripes I had created with the fabrics. I used an embroidery stitch to attach them. I also added some deep blue sequins here and there over the surface.
A dark grey back and a lighter grey ribbon trim around the edge. This completes the cushions.
The pair on the sofa. The deep terracotta orange really sets off the colours. However, I think these would look better on a modern black leather sofa, in a contemporary room.
These are for sale on my Folksy site. Have a look at my shop here.
