Here is a simple idea for Valentines Day boxes. I have made these for a craft fair. They are the perfect size to put a ring or brooch in. Even as an empty box, they make a nice gift.
First, get some plain wooden boxes and paint them with acrylic paint. I used mainly reds and dark colours. Paint the inside as well as the outside. I did mine all the same colour, but putting a contrasting colour on the inside would look really good too.
Then add a layer of glitter paint. I use the decorators kind, which is ready mixed with a light varnish. I used a gold based one on some, and a coppery green based one on others.
I then added some hearts on to the top. These are added with PVA glue.
I added some decorative binding around the bottom half of each box. I covered this with a layer of the glitter varnish to seal it on properly.
I then added some heart decorations inside the lid on each box.
I stuck a square of felt inside each box, to protect any item of jewellery. I also put some on the base, as a finishing touch.
