One of my favourite flowers will always be lilies. I grow them as indoor pot plants through the year, and also in the summer as border plants in the garden. I love to photograph them close up, and with the light behind them to show all the structure. The stargazer lily is very common, but still one of the most beautiful.
I have featured lilies in many of my paintings. Here is a a pair of decorative lily patterned flowers, plus a larger acrylic called Lily Blue. Lily Blue is available on Mini Gallery , but the others ended up on my daughter's bedroom wall and have stayed there ever since!
Below are some more photos, taken last summer in the back garden. At the moment when I look in the garden I can see snow ( yuk!! ) where these flowers grew. We had about 2cms of snowfall last night, the first lot this winter. I hope it is the last of it too, as I am not a winter person at all!
Here is one more of my lily paintings. This one was done for a greetings card design, and you can buy it on line at Artists publishers or through Red Bubble advertised at the top of the page.
This painting was done in an impressionist style of lots of overlaid dots and blobs of paint. The colours are really bold, and there is some very fine detailing.
